The Contemporary Hotel Disney World is one of the 3 original hotels at Disney. It opened its doors to guests back in 1972, along with the Polynesian Resort and Fort Wilderness. Disney's Contemporary Resort is certainly a fabulous place to stay and here’s why.
Disney's Contemporary Resort is located at walking distance from the Magic Kingdom. It is an ultra-modern lakeside Disney Deluxe Resort. It consists of a towering A-frame high rise building that has become iconic for Disney World and one garden wing annex. The entire resort is futuristically designed with the furnishings being reminiscent of the 1970’s and 80’s space age style. There are 2 restaurants in the main hall, various shops, a monorail station and a 90 foot ceramic mural created by Disney Legend Mary Blair. It is the only hotel in the Walt Disney World Resort that has the Walt Disney World Monorail System passing through the main lobby. You can pick up the monorail on the 4th floor and go to the Magic Kingdom theme park and Epcot Center. The Contemporary Hotel at Disney World is a smoke-free resort. Although, in some designated outdoor smoking locations, smoking is permitted.
Disney's Contemporary Resort houses 655 guest rooms. The rooms in Disney's Contemporary Resort are either in the main Tower or in one of the Garden Wings. Many of them offer views of Cinderella’s Castle and Space Mountain. Prior to redesigning, the guest rooms had an outdated look that featured bright colors and bold patters that were inspired by the contemporary art of the1950’s and 1960’s. After the refurbishment, the rooms are now in line with the modern hip and sleek boutique hotel style, which is quite popular. The redecorating looks smart and chic and features wood, marble and attractive lighting everywhere. The rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, covered with white duvet sheets and feather pillows. For the convenience of business travelers, a built-in desk with a glass top, a comfortable ergonomic chair and a separate rolling extension are provided. By doing this, guests can do their work comfortably in any part of the room. A custom built cabinet with shelves and dramatic lighting has replaced the TV armoire. All rooms in the Contemporary Hotel Disney World have an exclusive 32” LCD flat panel TV, which has replaced the standard over sized television set. All the rooms at the Contemporary Hotel Disney World have a modern bathroom with a tub/shower combination in addition to a separate toilet room. Counter space is provided underneath the sinks and the lighted vanity mirrors. The rates for a standard room per night start at $280 plus tax. If there are more than 2 adults, then you may have to pay additional charges per adult.
At Disney’s contemporary resort you can enjoy sunbathing at Bay Lake and the Electrical Water pageant as well as walking or jogging to the Magic Kingdom. There are various other recreational facilities in the Contemporary Hotel Disney World. Guests can enjoy a walk along the marina, swimming in the pools, dining in the restaurants, exercising in the health club and playing tennis. There are also convention facilities in the sprawling grounds of Disney's Contemporary Resort.
