Disney Vacation Club

The Disney Vacation Club is the Disney version of a timesharing program offering points that are based on the “right to use” model. Under the Disney Vacation Club timesharing program, you can buy a certain number of points. Instead of spending a fixed period of time such as a week in Disney every year, you can use these points in any way that you would like on the different Disney properties. For example, you can utilize these points on Disney vacation properties, Disney Resort Hotels across the world, and on Disney Cruises too.

These points can also be exchanged for vacation weeks outside the Disney system through Disney’s exchange partner, Intervals International. But if you wish to make the most out of these points, you should definitely use them on the Disney Vacation Club properties. The value of these points changes seasonally and in accordance with the size of the accommodation units. So, if you reserve a smaller unit for a stay outside of Disney’s busiest seasons like summer, Christmas, and school holidays, you can add extra time and fun to your family vacation.

The Disney Vacation Club guide is informative and does not use any hard-sell methods to force you into making a timeshare deal.

Disney World Vacation Club Under the “Right to use” model of timesharing of the Disney Vacation Club, you are not buying real estate. Rather, you are purchasing the right to use the property and its features for a fixed number of years. Most of the properties available through the Disney Vacation Club have a use year ending in 2042. Some of the newest properties of the Disney Vacation Club – Saratoga Springs and Animal Kingdom Villas have their use year ending in 2054 and 2057 respectively. This “right” is mostly used outside the United States, especially in the UK and Mexico.

The allocation of Disney Vacation Club points is made on a yearly basis in accordance with a “use year”. It is not based on a calendar year. Here is how it works. For instance, if you buy a “use year” in August, your allocation of points will run from August until July of next year. You can also transfer points from one year to another. Suppose you get bonus points from Disney this year, you can utilize these points next year.
